I switched to this rig for daily commutes and weekend trails — battery lasts ages, folding is genuinely quick and the ride feels stable on rough paths. Made errands and hill climbs way less stressful and actually fun, would buy again without hesitation.

Customer Stories

These are real stories from riders who chose the Impala through Big Game Bikes or our authorised retailers. They show how different people are using the bike in everyday life.

I compared a lot of folding eBikes before choosing the Impala and this one offered the best balance of range, comfort and practicality. The battery life is reliable, the frame feels robust and the folding mechanism is sensible rather than gimmicky. It’s become my main transport for local trips and weekend rides. No regrets so far.

Most of my rides involve damp roads or light rain, so I wanted something stable. The Impala has handled the weather well. The fat tyres grip the surface and the hydraulic brakes stay strong even when the roads are greasy. It feels secure and predictable, which is exactly what I needed commuting through winter.

This is my first eBike so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the Impala has been straightforward from day one. The assist feels natural and the display is easy to understand. The build quality is better than I anticipated for a folding model. It’s given me the confidence to ride more often instead of driving short distances.

I use the Impala for work and weekend rides. My typical loop is around 40 miles of country lanes and cycle paths and the battery still has life left at the end. Range seems honest, which is refreshing. I ride on assist level 2 most of the time which probably helps. Charging is straightforward and the removable battery makes it easy.

Sturdier than I expected for a folding bike. The frame feels solid, nothing rattles, and the welds look properly done. The fat tyres smooth out broken paths and the saddle is surprisingly supportive on longer rides. The hydraulic brakes are a clear upgrade compared with my old mechanical setup.

We wanted bikes we could take with our motorhome without needing roof racks or external carriers. The Impala fits the bill. It folds neatly and the wheels roll easily when manoeuvring it into place. Lifting it in requires two hands but the battery out makes it manageable. Great stability on campsite tracks and coastal paths.

What impressed me most was the communication. I had a couple of questions before ordering and got clear, honest answers. Delivery was quick and the bike arrived well packaged. Assembly was minimal. Feels like a company that actually supports what they sell.

I'm in my early 60s and bought the Impala to keep up with family outings. The upright riding position is comfortable and the assist takes the pressure off my knees. I feel stable on it, even on uneven paths. Folding it is easy, though my son helps with lifting it into the car.

I use this mainly for errands and weekend rides. It handles potholes and canal paths better than any normal folding bike I've tried. It's heavier than a standard folder, but the trade-off is stability and confidence. Folding it at the station is simple and it doesn't feel fragile.

Had the Impala for two months. Zero issues so far. Everything feels well put together. The electrics are tidy, the brakes bite cleanly and the gearing shifts without hesitation. Battery life has stayed consistent and the bike feels dependable for daily use.

Got Questions?

Clear answers to help you choose with confidence and ride worry-free

1: Is it UK road-legal?

Yes. All BGB eBikes are fully compliant with UK regulations. Each model features a 250W motor, pedal-assist system, and a 15.5mph (25kph) assist limit. No licence, insurance, MOT, or tax is required to ride on UK roads, cycle paths, or bridleways.

2: Is the battery removable?

Yes. Every BGB eBike includes a removable lithium battery. Charge indoors using the included UK charger. Removing the battery also reduces lifting weight for transport.

3: Is it Heavy?

The Impala weighs 35kg with the battery, or 30kg without. Most riders remove the battery, roll the bike into position, and lift only when needed. The compact frame and folding stem make manoeuvring into cars, motorhomes, and caravans far easier than full-size eBikes.

4: Will it fit in my car or caravan?

Yes. The folded footprint fits inside most hatchbacks, estates, motorhomes, and caravan lockers. This is one of the Impala’s biggest advantages. True fat-tyre capability without storage problems. Always check your specific measurements before travel.

5: What range can I expect?

Real-world range is 50–80 miles, depending on terrain, rider weight, and assist level (PAS 2–3 gives the best balance). Riders who mainly use flat mixed riding often achieve the higher end of the range.

6: Can I fit a child seat?

Yes. The Impala supports a rear-rack child seat when using a compatible model. Always follow the child seat manufacturer’s safety rating and weight limits.

7: How stable is it on rough paths?

Very. The 20" × 4.0" fat tyres and the suspension system give the Impala a confident, planted ride on gravel paths, canal routes, forest tracks, wet roads, and uneven surfaces. Fat-tyre grip smooths out rough terrain and makes UK mixed-weather riding far more predictable.

8: What’s the warranty and returns policy?

Warranty: All BGB eBikes include a 2-year warranty covering the frame, motor, battery, and major electrical components. Wear-and-tear items (tyres, brake pads, cables) are excluded. Warranty is for the original owner only. Full terms are listed in our BGB Terms & Conditions. 30-Day Returns: We offer a 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee. The bike must be unused, unregistered, undamaged, and returned in its original packaging. Customer covers return shipping. Refund is the bike purchase price minus return shipping. Delivery: We provide free UK delivery via a specialist eBike courier (certified for lithium transport). Orders typically process in 1–3 business days and arrive in 2–4 business days. Most customers receive their bike in 3–5 working days total.
